Josh Binder has a general entertainment practice, concentrating in the areas of music law, licensing and entertainment contract negotiation - including Film and Television - and the administration of music and related intellectual property rights. Mr. Binder began developing his specialization in music while working in the legal department at Sony Music. Additionally, Mr. Binder has authored two articles on the subject of copyright law. One is entitled “The Future of Streaming Technology after Grokster” which was published in the December 2005 issue of Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine. The other, entitled “Current Developments of Public Performance Rights for Sound Recordings Transmitted Online: You Push Play, But Who Gets Paid?” was published in 2001 by Loyola of Los Angeles Entertainment Law Review.

Mr. Binder’s transactional practice consists of the representation of numerous individuals and companies in the entertainment field. Mr. Binder counsels clients on day-to-day business matters, including contract negotiation, trademark filings, copyright filings, licensing, employment contracts, and other matters.

Additionally, his practice ranges from negotiating and preparing traditional recording and touring agreements to developing and executing strategies for online promotion and distribution of music. He offers expertise in all areas of the entertainment field, including music, theater, motion pictures, motion picture soundtracks, television, live performances, publishing, multimedia and advertising. While the majority of Mr. Binder's clients and practice is concentrated in the music industry, he offers services to all aspects of the entertainment industry.

Mr. Binder’s client base is diverse and includes recording artists, record and film producers, songwriters/composers, actors (Film and Television), screenwriters, authors, personal managers, music houses, production companies (Film and Television), publishing companies, independent record companies, recording studios, artist management companies, clothing companies, and entities involved with film and television music. Mr. Binder also acts as general counsel for companies involved in the fields of entertainment and intellectual property.
